Vaidya put together a new masala mix to help further with protein and fat synthesis: MedAgni Masala. With its slightly bitter taste, this masala can also be used in your takra, or the clear part of yogurt when you are making butter from raw cream. Takra is known for its all-round healing properties in the ayurvedic texts. Hailed as a life-giving elixir for its high content of friendly probiotic bacteria, there is not a thing it will not help heal when consumed regularly.  It is an ideal weight loss masala or a masala for kaphas body types. The only contraindication is for people with high pitta - you should not use it if you are a high pitta type.

This masala is pre-toasted and ready to use as is to sprinkle on yoghurt drinks (lassi), salads, rice, soups, etc. Each spice has been dry toasted separately and then blended in and ground into a powder. Pre-toasting makes the healing properties of the spices readily available without the need to expose to further agni/cooking to activate them. Enjoy!

Directions:

Whenever you are making any protein dish, simply add 1/8 to ½ tsp before cooking, to your lentil, paneer or vegetable dish. You may want to add a little more salt, as the masala contains minimal salt.
You can also call this a Takra masala, or a spice mix for buttermilk. You can add to 8oz of takra, about 1/8 tsp of this masala, in the proportions of 80% water and 20% yogurt. This will make a delicious drink without clogging your channels or causing heaviness.
You may also cook with this masala. It goes very well with noodles, ¼ tsp of this masala, ½ tsp of shredded basil stems, 1 tsp of ghee, soma salt as per taste, 1 green chili optional, ½ tsp shredded ginger, add to cooked noodles and toss you’re your vegetables for a refreshing new flavor.

Ingredients:

Fenugreek (enhances fat and sugar metabolism and supports protein synthesis); Cumin (unclouds kledak kapha, enhances absorption); Ajwain (increases pachak pitta so as to be able to digest fat and protein properly, in order for them to be more easily metabolized and synthesized); Soma Salt (supplies the balancing salty taste and enhances the absorption of nutrients).
