Triphala is a classical Ayurvedic formulation that combines three fruits - amla, haritaki and bibhitaki – for detoxification and to reestablish the intelligence of the channels of elimination.  Generally, triphala is a very balanced and gentle.  Yet even this gentle formula can be too heating and harsh for some high pitta constitutions!  For these people, and all severely pitta aggravated people, the natural warmth of the fully matured haritaki fruit often proves too much to handle. For them, Vaidya Mishra put together a unique formulation called ‘Triphala for High Pitta.’  This formula is made with shade-dried ‘baby haritaki’, which carries less agni (fire energy).  In addition, this formula also has organic rose and mild fennel synergistically infused to cool pitta further.  A pitta type’s best friends, rose and fennel pacify pitta dosha so that the remaining ingredients can initiate the bowel cleanse without aggravating and irritating pitta. Directions

The number of capsules may vary from person to person, due to individual bowel tendencies.  You must determine your individual set point.  In general, start with two capsules at bedtime taken with room temperature spring water.  If two capsules give desired results stay at that level.  If not, increase the number of tablets by one per day, but do not exceed four tablets per day unless specifically directed by your SVA practitioner.  If excess bowel movements happen, reduce tablets.
