Product Description

Tulsi tea is a delicious way to stimulate digestion, reduce kapha and vata, improve immunity, and increase sattwa (spiritual purity) in life.

This is especially true with Vaidya Mishra's Tulsi Tea, which offers the full energy of this powerful herb in combination with five other balancing herbs.

Not All Tulsi Teas Are Created Equally

You can go to your local Indian store and get tulsi tea for next to nothing. It will have some flavor, and you will get some benefit from the herb. But chances are you will be taking tulsi which was raised non-organically, stored carelessly and may be quite old and lacking in energy.

Vaidya Mishra's Tulsi Tea is energetically vibrant. You can feel the divine vibration of the tulsi plant when you sip this delicious tea. In addition, the harsingar flowers (Lord Shiva's favorite flowers) lend even more divinity to this subtle tea.

Lavender calms the mind, rosemary stimulates dehagni (cellular metabolism) and peppermint opens the channels. The combination of these herbs, which are all fresh and bursting with flavor, gives a balanced blend that your palate will love.

Why settle for dead tulsi tea? With Vaidya Mishra's Tulsi Tea, you can experience the full flavor and healing properties of an ancient Ayurvedic recipe.

The Healing Properties of Tulsi

Tulsi (ocimum sanctum, ocimum tenuiflorum) is known as holy basil. The Sanskrit text, Bhava Prakash, describes tulsi as katuka (pungent), tikta (bitter), hridya (good for the heart), ushna (warming), dipani (stimulating digestion and metabolism) and kaphavatajit (reducing kapha and vata).

It also says that tulsi is bhutaghni (helpful in removing pathogenic microbes). In addition, tulsi has a divine vibration (devadundubhi) and is sometimes called surasa (liked by the gods).

The Sanskrit name is tulasi, which means "beyond compare." The purity of divine energy found in the tulsi plant truly is beyond compare.

Learn the Story of Tulsi

You will enjoy hearing the ancient story of tulsi as told by Vaidya Mishra in his 23 minute audio download. In the same audio file, you can also study word by word, the Sanskrit description of tulsi from Bhava Prakash.

Don't miss the opportunity to download this 99¢ MP3 file and listen to it on you iPod many times until you are familiar with the concepts and properties of tulsi as described by the source text.

Tulsi Tea is Heating

You may not want to drink lots of Tulsi Tea in the summer, or if your constitution has a lot of pitta. Tulsi is heating.

This tea is good for stimulating digestion, and if you have a cold, it clears the ama (partially digested food material in the system) and burns kapha and makes it hard for the bugs in your system to thrive.

However, you should be careful if you have high pitta, or strong digestion already. This tea could increase your digestion too much, or even cause burning in the body. Bhava Prakash says that tulsi is dahapittakrit (able to cause burning and increase pitta).

Tulsi In Our Herbal Products

Tulsi Herbal Memory Nectar

  • Contains only the subtlest essence of the tulsi (the herbal memory).
  • Bypasses the liver, which may be in poor shape due to modern lifestyle, and delivers the prabhavas (special qualities) of tulsi directly to the tissues. If the liver is full of toxins, the divine quality of tulsi will be destroyed when it passes through the liver. This is not the case with this herbal memory nectar, which does not go through the liver.
  • Does not heat the body like tulsi normally does.
  • Travels quickly, without delay of digestion and begins acting right away.
  • Should be added to 1 to 2 liters of cool, neutral pH spring water and sipped throughout the day.

Tulsi Leaf

  • Contains the full power of tulsi.
  • Can aggravate pitta and cause excess heat in the body.
  • The liver must be relatively free of toxins if the divine nature of the herb is to ever reach the cells of the body.

Tulsi Seeds

  • The seeds of tulsi are used in certain cases instead of the leaves, according to the specific instructions of your Shaka Vansya Ayurveda practitioner.
  • Can aggravate pitta and cause burning in the body, if you already have high pitta.
  • The liver must not have a lot of toxins which can damage the divine quality of tulsi before it reaches the rest of the body.

Total Tulsi Tablets

  • Contains the full power of tulsi in tablet form.
  • Requires that the liver be fairly clean. If toxins are present, the divine nature of tulsi will be damaged and the effectiveness of the herb will be compromised.
  • Can heat the body and aggravate pitta.

Tulsi Transdermal Cream

  • Is a great way to use tulsi even if the liver is full of toxins.
  • Bypasses the liver and delivers tulsi directly to the cellular systems through the skin.
  • Is great to use before meditation.
  • Does not heat the body the way tulsi usually does.

  3. Tulsi & Friends 5 Star Review

Posted by on 15th Oct 2014

Firstly, I have been using Tulsi Tea since my early trips to Nepal in the 70's & 80's. The tea helped greatly to subdue breathing and phlam issues resulting from the dust-in-the-air in Nepal and India.

The SVA Tulsi Tea mixture of Tulsi & Friends (Sweet Basil, Peppermint, Harsingar flowers, Lavender flowers, Rosemary) has provided a healing and aromatic combination that is unlike the usual Tulsi Only Tea Mixture. I highly recommend this product. Sometimes I add a little Mum's Chai for additional flavor.
