Total Brahmi is a combination of two divine herbs. The divine quality of these herbs, which is what strengthens the mind, will be lost if your liver is full of toxins.

When the herb is taken in tablet form, it has to pass through the digestive and metabolic system. If there are sharp, acidic toxins sitting there, or if the digestion is too weak to assimilate it, the divine essence of the herbs will be lost.

What is the Real Brahmi?

Brahmi is an ancient herb that has long been extinct. For many generations, Vaidya Mishra's family of Ayurvedic practitioners has been using the balanced combination of aindri (bacopa monnieri) and mandukaparni (gotu kola) to recreate almost the same effects as the original brahmi plant. Wherever you see the name brahmi in Vaidya Mishra's inventory, it refers to the combination of these two herbs.

You may have been confused as you researched brahmi in the marketplace today. Some people will tell you that gotu kola is brahmi and others say bacopa monnieri is brahmi. In reality, neither is the real brahmi, but when used together they make a good substitute.

Bacopa has more soma (cooling, nourishing energy) while gotu kola has more agni (heating, transforming energy). The combination of these two herbs with similar properties makes a very balanced formulation.

Brahmi is the Best Herb for Reversal of Aging

Brahmi takes care of the brain. Since the brain is called uttamang in Sanskrit (the controlling organ of the whole body), it is not surprising that brahmi is the best herb in Ayurveda for reversal of aging. The biggest cause of aging according to Ayurveda is pragyaparad. What is pragyaparad?

Dhi is the power of learning. Dhriti is the power of retention. Smriti is the power of recall. Brahmi increases the power of all three components of mind.

When mind is strong, then the horses (the senses) cannot not take over the mind and lead it into the ditch. When mind is strong, it does not attack itself with guilt and self-ridicule. When mind is strong, it does not direct the endocrine system to constantly dump stress hormones into the bloodstream that can lead to autoimmune problems. When mind is strong, the physiology does not easily fall sick by any means.
